Abstract

There are several therapeutic modalities for maintaining periodontally compromised teeth, yet their long-term results often seem to be unsuccessful. Implant dentistry has been common clinical procedure nowadays. At present, it is an open question whether or not and when should we abandon periodontally compromised teeth. In addition to the general heath condition with specific oral environment of patients, subjective motivation toward relevant therapy is the important considering factors for determining treatment modalities. Taking all of these things into account, dentists are required to estimate the risk-to-benefit ratio of individual teeth carefully.
